About the Initiative

SMRITI is a prominent heritage and research initiative by Friends of India Society International UK (FISI-UK) dedicated to documenting and celebrating the stories, achievements, and legacy of Indians who contributed to India's freedom movement and public life during their time in the United Kingdom.

The initiative will highlight notable figures such as Swami Vivekananda, Dadabhai Naoroji, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Subhas Chandra Bose, and many others whose presence and activities in the United Kingdom left a lasting impact on India's freedom movement and public life.

Publication of the inaugural SMRITI Heritage Magazine — a print and digital compendium of peer-reviewed research, community narratives, and archival assets.

Tours & Public Engagement

Blue Plaque Campaign
