About FISI-UK
India's Trusted Global Voice in the United Kingdom, since 1976.
Established in 1976, Friends of India Society International (FISI), UK represents India's voice in the United Kingdom. We work to strengthen UK–India ties and promote India's perspectives, advancements, and achievements through research, strategic advocacy, lobbying, and public engagement.
FISI-UK was founded in April 1976 by the Indian diaspora to create a global platform to campaign for the restoration of democracy in India during the Emergency — a cause we embrace with humility, responsibility, and pride. We continue to be a vocal, impartial, and non-governmental advocate for India, particularly in addressing anti-India issues, and our sustained campaigns have played a significant role in improving the way Western media portrays India.
Our Vision
- To be an authentic global voice of India in the UK, founded on the values of truth, integrity, and cohesion.
- To be an enabler for a united British Indian community that is empowered, influential, engaged, and deeply connected to its roots.
Our Mission
- Serve as a credible and influential voice promoting positive, factual narratives about India on the global stage.
- Counter misinformation and propaganda through research-driven facts and informed dialogue.
- Support and empower the British Indian diaspora by addressing key concerns and reinforcing ties with India.
Our Values
FISI UK supports democracy and human rights, driven by the core values of truth, integrity, and cohesion:
- Truth — Promote authentic narratives, fact-based research, and firmly counter misinformation.

Advocacy & Lobbying
We have issued press statements on foreign interference in India's internal affairs; human rights and the oppression of Indian people in Pakistan and Bangladesh; the Kashmir issue, asserting it as an integral part of India; and anti-Indian sentiments locally. We regularly lobby British and European politicians to promote a better understanding of India's position, and publish literature to inform the public.
