As the Russia-Ukraine crisis heightened, about 20,000 Indian students were trapped in the conflict
zone. Their safety and evacuation became a priorit for the Indian government and students were advised to reach the western borders of Ukraine & cross over to either Poland, Romania, or Hungary
to board flights specially operated by the Indian government for taking them to India. This evacuation drive was called Operation Ganga.
